Platanus occidentalis (Sycamore)

One of the fastest growing and largest trees east of the Mississippi River. Three to 4 feet of growth per year is common for trees planted near a stream. Light gray outer bark scales away like torn wallpaper to reveal inner white bark creating a dramatic look in the winter landscape. Fruits are greenish balls suspended from slender stems. This bottomland tree requires full sun.
