Liriodendron tulipfera (Tulip Tree)

Native to S. IL  and eastern U.S. A true forest tree that grows in light shade. One of the biggest trees east of the Mississippi River. Grows best on well-drained sites. Flowers are whitish green with a yellow throat and shaped like a tulip.
